Day 4 - What To Sell On eBay And Where To Get It - Part I

Posted on 24 February 2006 by Gary H

What to sell on eBay and where to get it? Those are probably the two most frequent questions asked by people who want to build an eBay business. It doesn’t matter whether they are just getting started or if they’ve been trying for several months to get a foothold on eBay.

Although there are millions of different items listed on eBay at any given time, for an eBay seller trying to decide what to sell on eBay and where to get it, everything there will fit into one of three general categories.

  • New products the sellers have created/manufactured themselves
  • New products that come from a different source
  • Used products of one kind or another

Each of these categories has different advantages and disadvantages to the seller. There are special considerations that need to be addressed before deciding that one of them is where you want to devote your time and energy. Each has it’s own problems a seller must deal with.

When you are trying to decide what to sell on eBay and where to get it, you need to consider each of these special aspects of these categories before you decide where to concentrate your efforts on eBay.

Over the next few days we will look at each of these product categories. We’ll cover the pluses and minuses; the advantages and disadvantages; the individual problems of each; and the rewards of each.

In the meantime, I encourage you to go back and read -

While that series of articles specifically targets antiques/collectibles I’ll be referring to the general concepts talked about in all four parts as we explore each of these three eBay product categories.

At the end of the next few days you should have a better understanding of what makes each category tick and be able to make a wise decision when deciding what to sell on eBay and where to get it.
