A deep seated burning desire to succeed is an essential characteristic of successful eBay sellers and is a characteristic found in every successful eBay seller I know.
When I first started selling on eBay I’d just quit my job. I’d spent nearly 30 years working for other people and there was no way I wanted to go back to doing that again.
At the same time, I had various financial obligations that needed to be met every month and knew that I couldn’t meet those obligations out of savings forever. If I was going to start, and build, my own business it had be one that would start providing enough profit to meet my financial obligations within a few months or I would have to go back to working for someone else.
That was my burning desire - to never have to work for someone else again.
Having a burning desire that gnaws at both their mind and their gut is a characteristic of every successful eBay seller I know, and if you are going to succeed on eBay you’d better have one too.
If there’s no burning desire to succeed, there’s no reason to succeed. Your burning desire may be entirely different from everyone else’s, but if you don’t have one, your chances of succeeding are greatly reduced.
Mine was to never have to work for some else again. Yours might be:
- To make a monthly house payment
- To put your significant other, or your children, through school
- To afford the car or house of your dreams
- To provide a sound financial base for your grand children’s future
- To pay for an extended family vacation each year
- To be able to stay at home with your children while they are growing up
- To build a business in which you and your spouse can work in together
- One of hundreds of other reasons
It doesn’t matter what it is, but if you don’t have this characteristic of successful eBay sellers, you need to develop one that burns in your gut or your chances of becoming a successful eBay seller are greatly diminished.
