On the way home from breakfast at Jeannies Restaurant this morning Arlene and I drove past a sign advertising an auction sale. We decided to stop and see if there was anything of interest being sold.
The only thing that interested me were two centennial history books for a small town nearby. There was a ton of stuff there, but since it looked as though the books would be sold in the first hour I decided to go back in the afternoon.
I went back at 1:00 and after waiting an hour the books were sold. Unfortunately someone else was willing to pay more for them than I was and they went home with someone else.
While I was waiting for the books to be sold, they pulled a box of records from under one of the tables that I had either missed when I was there earlier or had been put out after we left.
The box contained several old 78 RPM records, some 45s from the 1950s and 1960s, along with a few 33 RPM albums. I was able to buy the box for $7.50 so the hour spent there wasn’t a total waste of time.
Some are junk, but there are several I’m sure will sell on eBay and others that it will be interesting to see what happens with.

Stacy,
Thank you for the kind words.
I enjoyed your post about finding books at antique shops. I buy a lot of my inventory at antique shops and find quality books there quite often.

Gary — I just wanted to let you know that I have had your blog RSS’d into my yahoo account and truly enjoy your postings. I wish I could have the grasp of your eye at the yard sales — I seem to always think, “Geez, would that one do well on eBay — or would this one bring me a little profit” — and since I don’t know the answers to those questions, I walk away.
I need courage — and maybe a lot more knowledge.
So, I’ll keep reading your psotings and keep on learning.
Thanks again.
Shanti,

Ron,
The “eye” comes with time, so keep at it.
Also, don’t be afraid to take a risk with an item now and then.
Good luck hunting.

You should subscribe to BookThink’s free newsletters and buy all of the book information that Craig Stark sells for
a few bucks each. They have contributed to my success with books. That is if you want to increase your
knowledge for those $50 and up books.
