Hello all,

As you might have read in an earlier post Gary will be away on a wonderful fly fishing trip in Canada during the week June 9-16 and in his absence Gary asked if I’d be willing to post to the Auction Rebel blog so it wouldn’t just sit without any activity during that time.

Being a longtime collector and dealer in antiques and vintage collectibles, I’ve followed Gary’s insights for many years (long before the Auction Rebel), mainly because I found his views of using eBay to build a profitable business much like my own.

As the saying goes, “You like who’s like you”, and like Gary, I’ve never bought into the idea of the current “hot selling item” but instead I always searched for the common “cold items” with a strong collector base or secondary market that others walk right past. In most cases these items can be found at garage, rummage & yard sales, flea markets, and antique & thrift shops — bought on the cheap but sold for profits from 300% to 1000% or more!!

During the week of June 9 thru 16, I will try and post a minimum 3 entries, maybe more and I hope you the readers might find my insights and experiences helpful in continuing to guide you to a more profitable and successful eBay selling experience.

If anybody has any ideas or topics they’d like to see covered, please feel free to write them down in the form of a comment in the section provided at the end of this entry.

One last thing, you might be wondering what the picture of the chicken has to do with this post, well my wife likes to call me a “crusty old bird” so I’ve kindda adopted it as my logo. It was only included so I could make sure I knew how to correctly add a photo to a post before Gary left and I couldn’t ask him any questions.

Gary, enjoy your time away and when you return, we don’t want to hear ’bout the one that got away…LOL!!
