Weekly eBay Auctions - 3/26/2008

I was a bit surprised that Midwinter Stonehenge Wild Oats pattern dinnerware I had on eBay didn’t do that well. Of the four auctions, only the salt and pepper set sold and that only for the starting bid of $9.99. I had thought both the coffee pot and the 4 plates would sell for sure, which just goes to show how smart I am.

The three unsold listings have been re-listed and are once again live and will end on this coming Sunday evening.

Overall, a total of eleven of the sixteen listings sold for a total of $518.58.

The best money makers were the two Zenith Trans-Oceanic radios that I paid $25 each for. The sold for $203.50 and $136.27. They were followed by the Canadian Pacific Railway plate which sold to someone in Canada for $78.77.

Once again, this week’s primary focus is hockey, in this case the first round of the NCAA National Championship, so I don’t have anything really interesting on eBay. Along with the three re-listed Midwinter Stonehenge Wild Oats items - the coffee pot, the cups and saucers, and the salad/bread plates - I’ve also re-listed the Pampered Chef cookbook, the Isabel Bloom book, and the unsold LA Lite cookbook.

Added to the re-lists are a small number of thrift shop purchases. They are:

A youth soccer coaching DVD titled The Novice Coach that I paid $1 for.

A book about Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN titled A Century Together that I paid $.50 for.

Classic Minnesota Fishing Tales which I paid $.25 for.

Sashiko - a book of machine embroidery designs I paid $.50 for.

Another book - Customize Your Sewing Patterns For A Perfect Fit - that I paid $.50 for.

    Gary,

That Canadian Pacific Railway plate was sweet…very nice!!

I’ve also done well with the Zenith Trans-Oceanic seems like nobody at sales ever buys them. The last one I got was on the last day of a 5 day sale and it was still there, I was stunned! Oh wll my gain :-)

I had four (4) items I sold this week that were interesting and made me some nice $$$!

I bought two (2) brass coat or vest buttons from the 1840 presidential campaign of William Henry Harrison for $25 bucks each.

Harrison used a Log Cabin as his campaign trademark and he was also credited with being the first politician to coin the campaign phrase “Tippecanoe” (I just learned all this doing research after buying the Harrison items)

1840 Harrison LOG CABIN Political Campaign Coat BUTTON sold: $102.50

1840 Harrison LOG CABIN Political Campaign Coat BUTTON sold: $81.00

Actually, I ended up buying about 15 pieces of 1840 Harrison political item for a total of $150, so you could say I only paid $10 for the buttons, either way they were a good find!

I also stumbled onto a couple of RARE (I hate the use of the word, but it applies in this case) sports cards that sold very well. I bought a box of cards at an auction by accident for $20 bucks, took it home and found inside…

1998 SPx Finite Excellence Spectrum Scottie Pippen Rare Insert Card Serial Numbered 24/25 sold: $231.26

1998 FLEER Tradition Playmakers Theater Allen Iverson Rare Insert Card Serial Numbered 037/100 sold: $155.00

…Plus two (2) other Michael Jordan insert cards that sold for $25.49 and $24.99

It seems these insert cards were randomly inserted in to the different packs of cards that are sold to the kids and collectors and since there are few of them they are highly sought after…LUCKY ME!!

And to think, I almost gave them back to the auction house because I really didn’t want them, but decided for $20 bucks I’d keep’em and try and sell’em on eBay or give’em to my son.

    Good Luck Everybody!!
