The Foxfire books are a series of collections of articles taken from Foxfire magazine. The books contain how-to articles, oral histories, and first-person narratives that document the culture, lifestyles, and skills of people in southern Appalachia.
Each volume was originally available individually and, as more were published, in slip-cased sets of three to five books each.
The original series consists of twelve books and were published from 1976 through 2004. Two additional volumes were published commemorating the twenty-fifth and the fortieth anniversaries of the magazine. There are also seven related books that many people consider to be part of the series.
Complete runs of the original twelve books can bring anywhere from $10 to $17 per book. By including a few of the related books can sometimes increase those figures to $20 to $22 or slightly more.
This is a series in which even small runs can do quite well. Lots as small as four or five books regularly bring $10 to $15 per book.
You can easily pay as much as $2 each for these when you find them and still realize a nice profit if you hold them until you have seven, eight, nine or more before listing them.
