If you’re just getting started selling books on eBay and are confused by some of the standard grading terms, I just came across a web site with illustrations of book grading terms you may find useful.
Thanks to Patty at the eBay Establishings Yahoo Group for providing a link to this site.

2006 is only two days away and you’ve made a New Years resolution that this will be the year you reach the goal you’ve set for yourself on eBay. The two crisp $100 bills your aunt Elle gave you for Christmas are burning a hole in your pocket. You’re sitting at your computer trying to decide which of the “how to succeed on eBay” you should spend it on.
You’ve narrowed you selection down to two options.
The first one is an eBay course that consists of 103 CDs, a 1749 page ebook, 119 hours of personal mentoring by the author, and a bonus package that includes 495 additional products with a value of $3,736,892.73.
You know all this because you’ve just read the 37 page sales letter that any Internet marketer worth their salt would drool over. It’s a little short of information about what’s actually inside, but that doesn’t matter because ….

I’m always looking for new or different ideas about how to do business on eBay that will help me become more productive, save time, increase my profits and increase my bottom line and books are one of the resources I use. Books can provide you with a wealth of ideas you can implement to help your eBay business become more successful.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve found that my reading more and more tends to gravitate away from books specifically written about ebay and more toward books targeted at other business models. It’s the ideas from these that, many times, are the most productive.
With that in mind, here’s some of what I’ve read in the last year that I’ve considered “worth the read” and have found ideas that I’ve either implemented “as is” or put my own twist on to improve my eBay business.

Just a reminder to everyone that the US Post office is increasing their rates effective January 7, 2006. This increase pretty much covers every shipping method including first class mail, priority mail, media mail, and parcel post. The last I heard there was also a proposed 5.4% increase for international shipping also. The increase also applies to insurance rates and delivery confirmation.
Everyone should take this into account for any auctions you list from now on because by the time you ship the items the new rates may well be in place.
New rate sheets should be available at your local post office.

Terry Gibbs regularly provides sound, well thought out, advice about doing business on eBay and he’s done it again with his new article - “Collecting From Non Paying Bidders”.
While some might think it’s a little devious, I have to admit reading what Terry has to say put a smile on my face and I’m sure I’ll by trying it out sometime in the future.
Agree with the strategy, or not, it’s interesting reading.

As you probably already know, eBay is running a 10 cent insertion fee promotion today. This means that thousands of sellers will be sitting at their computers all day today getting as many items listed as they can in the time alloted.
It’s currently 11:45 am, I’ve just listed 228 auctions under the promotion and it’s taken me less then 10 minutes. Here’s how I did it.
When I run auctions, nearly everything that doesn’t see the first time is re-listed at least once over the course of the next month.

That final nineteen auctions from my two weeks of buying at thrifts ended last night with nine auctions selling for a total of $193.43.
This is a sell-through rate of 46% which is disappointing since it’s down 20-30% from my norm. While the auctions didn’t bring in a huge amount of money, after inventory costs and eBay/PayPal fees are taken into account, they still produced a profit of close to 400% on my inventory investment.
